Description
Creamy Garlic Chicken Skillet is a rich and comforting dinner made with golden seared chicken and a velvety garlic cream sauce. Perfect for weeknights or special occasions.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.3 pounds total), sliced into thin cutlets
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
1 whole garlic bulb (8–9 cloves), peeled and lightly crushed
1 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Additional salt and black pepper, to taste
Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Carefully slice each chicken breast horizontally to create four thin cutlets.
2. Season both sides of the chicken with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Lightly coat each piece with flour, pressing gently so it adheres evenly.
3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter.
4. Once hot, place the chicken in the skillet. Cook for about 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to a plate and cover to keep warm.
5. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the crushed garlic cloves. Reduce the heat to medium-low and sauté for about 3 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant and lightly golden.
6. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in the garlic powder, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
7. Let the sauce simmer for 8–10 minutes, or until reduced by about half and thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
8. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Allow the chicken to warm through for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Slice chicken evenly for consistent cooking.
Do not burn the garlic; keep heat at medium-low when sautéing.
Simmer sauce until properly reduced for best texture.
Reheat gently to prevent cream from separating.
