Description
Rich and flavorful creamy garlic prawns cooked in a silky parmesan cream sauce. This easy shrimp dinner is perfect over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
3/4 cup low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth, divided
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
1. In a bowl, combine shrimp, minced garlic, olive oil, and black pepper. Toss well to coat. Let sit for 20 minutes if time allows. Stir in salt just before cooking.
2. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add half the shrimp in a single layer and cook about 1 minute per side until pink and lightly golden. Remove from skillet.
3. Repeat with remaining shrimp and transfer all shrimp to a plate.
4. In the same skillet melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté about 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Pour in 1/2 cup broth and simmer while scraping browned bits from the pan. Reduce for 1–2 minutes.
6. Add remaining broth and simmer slightly. Stir in heavy cream and cook about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
7. Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
8. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in sauce. Adjust seasoning if needed.
9. Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately over pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
Do not overcook shrimp or they will become rubbery.
Freshly grated Parmesan melts better and thickens the sauce naturally.
Add a splash of lemon juice for a brighter flavor.
