Description
Juicy turkey burgers topped with fresh, chunky guacamole for a healthy and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
1 pound lean ground turkey
1 small shallot, finely grated
1 garlic clove, finely grated
2 tablespoons seasoned bread crumbs
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon savory steak sauce or burger sauce
1 egg white, lightly beaten
4 burger buns
Lettuce leaves, for serving
Quick-pickled onions, for serving (optional)
For the chunky guacamole topping:
1 avocado, chopped
1 handful cherry tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Juice of 1/2 lime
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated shallot, grated garlic, bread crumbs, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, sauce, and egg white. Mix gently until just combined.
2. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.
3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly coat it with olive oil.
4. Cook the turkey patties for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until browned on the outside and fully cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
5. Transfer the burgers to a plate and let them rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
6. To make the guacamole topping, mash about half of the avocado in a bowl and leave the rest chunky. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt.
7. Assemble the burgers by placing lettuce on the bottom half of each bun, then adding a turkey patty.
8. Spoon the chunky guacamole over each burger and add pickled onions if desired.
9. Serve right away.
Notes
Do not overmix the turkey to keep burgers tender.
Let burgers rest before serving for better juiciness.
Prepare guacamole fresh for best flavor and color.
