Description
A quick and flavorful make-ahead freezer garlic bread recipe that bakes up golden, crispy, and buttery straight from the freezer. Perfect for busy weeknights or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 loaf French bread or preferred bread
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Slice the bread horizontally into two halves.
2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with parsley, minced garlic, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
3. Evenly spread the butter mixture over both halves of the bread.
4. Place the halves back together with the buttered sides facing inwards.
5. Wrap the loaf tightly in plastic wrap, then cover with aluminum foil.
6. Alternatively, cut the loaf vertically into sections, wrap each section, and store in a large freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
7. Label with the date and baking instructions before freezing.
8. Remove plastic wrap and rewrap in foil.
9. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 10–15 minutes.
10. Unwrap, separate the halves (butter side up), and return to oven for another 6–8 minutes.
11. Optional: For a golden finish, broil for 2–3 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.
12. Thaw the loaf in the refrigerator a few hours or the night before.
13. Remove any wrapping and place buttered sides up on a baking sheet.
14. Bake at 375°F for 6–8 minutes.
15. Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes to crisp the top, watching carefully.
