One Pan Sausage Pasta (Creamy, Flavor-Packed & Easy)

Description

One pan sausage pasta made with chicken or turkey sausage, bell peppers, fennel seeds, cream cheese, and Parmesan for a creamy, flavor-packed weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound chicken or turkey sausage, casings removed

2 large red bell peppers, sliced

9 ounces dry pasta (penne or rigatoni)

1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes

1 teaspoon fennel seeds

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

3 cups vegetable broth, divided

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (optional)


Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large deep skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté 4–5 minutes until softened.

2. Add sausage and bell peppers. Cook about 5 minutes, breaking up sausage until lightly browned.

3. Stir in pasta, diced tomatoes with juices, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and 2 cups broth. Mix well.

4. Cover and simmer 13–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is almost tender. Add more broth if needed.

5. Stir in cream cheese, Parmesan, and basil. Cook 1–2 minutes until melted and creamy.

6. Serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Add extra broth while simmering if the pasta absorbs too much liquid.

Lightly crush fennel seeds before adding for stronger flavor.

Reheat leftovers with a splash of broth to maintain creaminess.
