Ingredients

  • For the Wontons:

    • 8 ounces ground chicken or ground turkey

    • 2 green onions, finely chopped

    • 1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce

    • 1 teaspoon oyster-flavored sauce substitute (mushroom-based if needed)

    • ½ teaspoon sesame oil

    • ¼ teaspoon white pepper

    • 1 package wonton wrappers

    For the Soup:

    • 8 cups low-sodium chicken broth (boneless-based)

    • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced

    • 2 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces

    • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

    • Salt, to taste


Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix ground chicken (or turkey), finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, oyster-flavored sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper until well combined.

  • Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Lightly moisten the edges with water, fold into a triangle, and press to seal. Optionally, bring the two bottom corners together and pinch to seal tightly. Repeat for all wrappers.

  • In a large pot, bring chicken broth to a boil with sliced ginger and green onion segments.

  • Gently add the prepared wontons to the boiling broth. Cook for about 5 minutes or until wontons float and are cooked through.

  • Remove the ginger and green onion pieces. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and adjust salt to taste.

  • Serve hot. Garnish with extra chopped green onions or fresh herbs, if desired.
